Dutch driver claims his sixth Formula 1 win of the season

Montreal, Canada – Max Verstappen of Red Bull has won a gripping wet Canadian Grand Prix, claiming his sixth Formula 1 win of the season.

Verstappen started the race in third position behind pole-sitter George Russell of Mercedes and Fernando Alonso of Alpine. However, he made a strong start and moved into second place ahead of Alonso on the opening lap.

Russell led the race for the first 10 laps, but Verstappen was closing in on him rapidly. On lap 11, Verstappen made his move and passed Russell for the lead. He then began to build a gap over the Mercedes driver.

The race was red-flagged on lap 20 due to a heavy rain shower. The race resumed behind the safety car on lap 28, and Verstappen was able to maintain his lead over Russell.

Verstappen eventually crossed the finish line 6.8 seconds ahead of Russell to claim his sixth victory of the season. Russell finished second, with Alonso completing the podium.
