On September 25, 2022, Moscow State Palace of Child and Youth Creativity hosted the Moscow Sports Week(MSW) kick-off. This year's theme, "Play for Unity," attracted people from different walks of life to celebrate and participate in a variety of sports activities.Opening Speech
Addressing participants, the Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Oleg Matytsin, mentioned how sports bring people together while encouraging them to embrace the spirit of unity and fair play.
With colorful performances from several cultural groups, the opening ceremony also featured a parade of athletes from different countries, a demonstration of various sports disciplines, and a performance by the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra.
The 2022 MSW, which runs until October 1, 2022, will feature competitions in 24 sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, and chess. There will also be adaptive sports competitions for people with disabilities.
The MSW is one of the largest and most prestigious sports events in Russia. It aims to promote sports and healthy lifestyles among children and young people and to identify and develop talented athletes.
